How To Copy Files From A Hyper-V VM Lacking Network Connectivity Using PowerShell Direct
If you have ever found yourself with a Virtual Machine that you need to retrieve old files from, but you do not want to risk bringing the VM back online to the network for some reason (potential malware, duplicate DNS entries or IP addressing, backup copy, etc), then using PowerShell direct is a network-less option.
In this snip we will demonstrate how PowerShell direct in Hyper-V allows the retrieval of VM files to the Hyper-V Host, without the need for a connected Network Interface Card. We will work through the necessary VM settings as well as the cmdlets required to make this process work in both directions.
Prerequisites include:Hyper-V host access. Both host and VM Operating System Server 2012R2, Windows 10, or greater.
