How To Create An AWS EC2 Auto Scaling Group

One of the benefits of moving to the cloud is being able to scale up and down your workloads as needed. No longer do you need to waste resources on an over provisioned web server, or allow your customers to site through long load times when that same server can’t cope with peak use times.

You can achieve this elasticity of compute resources on AWS using Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling. By specifying your minimum, preferred, and maximum number of resources you can let Amazon work out exactly how many EC2 instances your applications needs to run optimally.

At the same time, you’ll be able to benefit from better fault tolerance, increased availability, and optimized costs.

In this snip, Josh will demonstrate the creation of an AWS EC2 Auto Scaling group using the AWS Management Console.
